Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you having a close out sale?

We really tried to make this business work and offer extremely high quality products at competitive pricing, but it’s time to realize that it’s not working out. We are letting everything go below cost and this website will be closed by September 2019.

Tell me more about new fabrics and all the chemicals involved?

Fabric manufacturers use a number of chemicals during the manufacturing process to make the material look shiny and crisp, as well as protect the fabrics from molds, rodents and insects while in storage. These chemicals, for some people and pets, can cause skin rashes, respiratory problems, etc..

As per some studies, if the final fabric is made of 100% natural fibers (such as cotton or linen), it contains an average of 25% of chemicals by weight. And many of those chemicals are simply not benign. In addition to the branded products supplied by chemical companies, which are made of unknown components because they’re proprietary, we know many chemicals are necessary to achieve certain effects, such as PBDEs for fire retardants, formaldehyde resins for crease resistance or PFOA’s for stain protection.

The chemicals used in these branded products to create the effects above include chemicals which have been proven to be toxic, or to cause cancers or genetic mutations in mammals (i.e., us too). The following is by no means an all-inclusive list of these chemicals:

• Alkylphenolethoxylates (APEOs)
• Pentachlorophenols (PCP)
• Toluene and other aromatic amines
• Dichloromethane (DCM)
• Formaldehyde
• Phthalates
• Polybrominated diphenyl ethers ( PBDE’s)
• Perfluorooctane sulfonates (PFOS)
• Heavy metals – copper, cadmium, lead, antimony, mercury among others.

There are so many studies and research that it’s impossible to list them all here. If you want to read more about the subject, please do a search in any web browser with “chemicals in new fabrics” or any other similar questions, the search will bring up numerous studies and articles.

Why don’t you use real pets to showcase your products?

We are and will sometimes use real pets, but in general, pets are not very fond of posing for pictures, so we’d rather let them be happy and go about their day, than submit them to long photo sessions.

On another note, we are continually casting new plush talents, we embrace diversity although difficult to find in the right size we need.
